Exploring Malaysia’s Renewable Energy Roadmap

Towards a Low Carbon Energy System 

As more countries are transitioning to the Renewable Energy (RE) push, Malaysia is also following suit. Closing off 2021, the country recently introduced The Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap (MyRER). Developed by The Energy and Natural Resources Ministry (KeTSA) and Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia, the roadmap aims to bolster the nation’s decarbonisation effort as well as its Paris Agreement commitment, in addition to further contribute to the nation’s goal to increase 31% renewable energy (RE) capacity by 2025 and 40% by 2035. It will also act as a compass of the national RE development in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
