Bursa Malaysia Bhd's subsidiary Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX) has commenced trading and facilitation of off-market transactions of carbon credits.  The exchange said 10 companies from various industries transacted a total of 16,500 Verra-registered carbon credits, by the close of its second day of trading. This signals an encouraging start for Malaysia's voluntary carbon market (VCM). Bursa chief executive officer Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift said the company is pleased with the successful go-live of the BCX trading platform.

Russia imposed an indefinite ban on the export of diesel and gasoline to most countries, a move that risks disrupting fuel supplies ahead of winter and threatens to exacerbate global shortages. In a government decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the Kremlin said Thursday that it would introduce "temporary" restrictions on diesel exports to stabilize fuel prices on the domestic market.

Canberra has unveiled an economic blueprint to do more business with Southeast Asia, including an immediate pledge of A$70 million (US$44.7 million) towards a new Australian “deals team” based in the region. The blueprint entitled “Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040” said Australia’s investments in the region were “underweight”. Written by Australia’s special envoy to Southeast Asia, Nicholas Moore, it made 75 recommendations, including setting up a deals team to identify and facilitate more mutual investments.

Organizers said they will halve energy emissions from the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix by 2028. Singapore GP said last year’s event generated 2,372 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, including set up and tear down. Energy use made up 96.1% of total emissions, while the remaining 3.9% came from transport, waste and water.

Sabah launched a 17-year energy roadmap that aims to meet its immediate power needs by 2030 as it transitions to become a carbon-neutral state. Dubbed the Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040 (or SE-RAMP 2040), it aims to immediately ensure energy security for the state through short-term plans to mix its energy sources, as it is highly dependent on natural gas at present. The roadmap also covers the development of renewable energy to meet the nation's carbon neutrality goals by 2050.
